Outerwear has more functional parts than a basic top, so start with an inventory. Confirm colour, ordered size, hood or liner option and any detachable pieces described by the source listing. Read the full silhouette next: shoulder balance, sleeve shape, hem level and panel alignment. A jacket can look polished from the front while still having an incorrect option or a missing component that only appears in another view.

Move through closures and stress points in a fixed order. Inspect the zip track, snap placement, pocket openings, cuff adjustment, drawcord exits and visible seam joins. Photographs can show obvious damage or misalignment, but they cannot prove waterproof performance, insulation rating or durability. If the fit is important, request a relevant chest, shoulder or length measurement instead of inferring scale from the background.

Jackets may need more protection than a tee, yet overpacking can increase chargeable volume.
